A TYPEWRITTEN RECORD: STORIES MY FATHER TOLD ME


Video projection with sound, paper, snow, dimensions variable, 2007. In A Typewritten Record: Stories My Father Told Me, I transcribed ghost stories from my father that I have heard throughout my childhood. From recorded audio, I transferred the stories on a typewriter until, after approximately six hours, I slumped over from exhaustion. In the projected video, I type loudly on a blank wall, the actual words on paper melding with the snow beneath.
